Funeral services for Claudine Slavin will be 2:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Northwest Church of Christ, Lawton with Monte Ginnings and Harold McRay, Church of Christ Ministers officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the Direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends on Thursday evening, February 11, 2016 from 6pm - 8pm at the funeral home.

Claudine Pumphrey Slavin, age 88, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Lawton. She was born on April 17, 1927 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to Claude and Orah Pumphrey. She was a graduate of Wewoka High School and earned her bachelor's degree in Education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Jesse Slavin, on December 24, 1948 in Ada, Oklahoma.

Claudine was an educator and taught high school at Strother and Central High near Marlow. She and Jesse moved to Lawton in 1957 where she taught elementary school at Cleveland and Roosevelt for 20 years. She retired from Lawton Public Schools in 1988. Claudine was also active with the NEA, OEA, LEA and was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota.

She was a member of the Church of Christ where she taught children's bible classes and VBS for over 50 years.

Claudine is survived by her husband, Jesse; her son and daughter in law, Mike and Cissy Slavin; two brothers and their spouses, Knowles and Betty Pumphrey, Garland, Texas; John and Carolyn Pumphrey, Moore, Oklahoma; a niece and her husband, Janet and Tommy Hand, Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in her death by a son, Kelly Slavin, her parents, and a special nephew, Johnny Pumphrey.
