Chong Yong served in the Republic of Korea military. He and his family have been residents of Lawton Oklahoma since 1972. He passed away peacefully on February 12 2023 at his home in Lawton after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

He loved his family, fishing and working with cars. Together with Chong Ae and their kids, they spent many weekends camping, fishing at Lake Lawtonka and hiking through the Wichita mountains. With Heung, Richard, Henry, Bernie, and Herman Mantzke, they worked at the KMH Repair Shop on Fort Sill Boulevard for approximately 35 years until he retired in 2010.

He was known by his friends and family to be a strong and hardworking man. Chong Yong had an unbreakable resolve. He was a deeply religious person and has been a member of the Korean Presbyterian Church for many years. Through great effort he provided for his family, while also being there for his friends.
