Age 76, Lawton - Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Highland Cemetery. Mr. Rice died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at his home. Burial was under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born March 29, 1933 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Willie R. and Georgia (Bean) Rice. He attended schools in Chattanooga, TN, and enlisted in the Army in 1952. He served in Korea and Vietnam and retired as a Staff Sergeant after twenty years. He then worked civil service until his retirement in 1985. He married Sherry Lee on June 7, 1961 at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of the home, two sons, Mark Rice and Rodney Rice, and daughter Robin and son-in-law Wendell Durham, all of Lawton. Three granddaughters, Kourtney and Hayley Durham of Lawton and Makayla Rice of Florissant, MO, his sister Nelle Hicks of Oxnard, CA and three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Rice and a sister Myrtle Land.
