Funeral service for Carol J. Mortensen will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015, in the First Baptist Church, Chattanooga. Burial will follow in Letitia Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Carol passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015. She was born October 10, 1964 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Pennsylvania and South Carolina and graduated high school in Greenville, South Carolina. Carol married John Mortensen on June 21, 1996 in Chattanooga. She had worked a number of different jobs and in 1997 began a career with the U.S. Postal Service. At the time of her retirement in 2011 she was the Chattanooga Postmaster. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga and had served as a volunteer with the youth group. Her kindness and thoughtfulness were her defining qualities as well as her love for her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Bergy and husband Greg, Eugene, Oregon and Amanda Miller, Lawton; a son, Wayne Moser, Chattanooga; her mother and step father, Lois and Johnnie Repp, Lawton; two brothers, Paul F. Kovach, Jr. and wife Brenda and Kevin D. Kovach and wife Marilyn, all of Lawton; 12 grandchildren, Jacob, Tristen, Hailee, Isaiah, Michelle, Aden, Alisha, Charles, Arik, Aiden, Nick and Abbey. Her father, Paul F. Kovach, Sr. and two sons in law, John Miller and Kenneth Roach, III, preceded her in death.
