It is with great love and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Candida O. Miranda. Our mother passed away with her family surrounding her with so much warmth, love and peace. She will be remembered as the kindest, sweetest, gentlest women of God. She was a precious gift that the world received on October 21, 1932. We were all so blessed to have had her in our lives until the Lord called her home at the age of 87 on December 19, 2018. Our mother was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Jose' and Aurora Molina Ortiz. She graduated From Ponce High School in 1953.
She worked as a bookkeeper for a pharmacy through high school until she married our father that September. Our mother married a brave soldier, SFC(Retired) Ulises Miranda-Weynez, II and became a strong and independent Army wife. In 1954, our father was called to defend our country in Korea and during this time our mother moved to New York City where she and her sister Lucy shared an apartment. She worked in the accounting department for a lamp manufacturing company in New York City.
Our parents were married for 65 wonderful years. The old photos show the most radiant and beautiful bride that we had ever seen.
She traveled the world with our father while he served in the Army and we have enjoyed such fun, inspiring stories and pictures from those years. Our mother created a warm and beautiful home filled with laughter, dancing and singing. Our oldest brother LTC(Retired) Ulises Miranda III, Ph.D. made our parents proud. Our brother "TOBY" inspired us all to achieve more. Our eldest sister Sandra Miranda-Holliday Art Ed. brought color and creativity to our home. The Twins, Lucy Miranda-Gonzalez RN (BSN), who is absolutely beautiful and brings grit, smarts and get it done perspective into the world and the youngest by 7 minutes, James F. Miranda a gentle man of God with the biggest heart. He is an artist in the kitchen and a skillful craftsman and landscaper working with his hands to make our world beautiful.
We have achieved so much with our mother's love and support. She made us who we are. She provided the opportunities for us to dream. She was our world. She was giving, nurturing, supportive, comforting, accepting, compassionate and selfless. She was always there for us, "Thank you mamma." Our house was filled with fantastically delicious Puerto Rican food and wonderful desserts lovingly prepared by our mother. Everyday her meals filled the air with love, sweet laughter and her beautiful voice. My father would always dance with her as she sung in the kitchen. These are our beautiful memories so strong and vivid. Oh mamma, how we will miss you. Oh, how we will celebrated you. Oh mamma, we will see you again.
Our mother is cherished and survived by her loving husband, our father, SFC (Retired) Ulises Miranda-Weynez II, her sister Lucy Feola, her eldest son LTC(Retired) Ulises Miranda III, Ph.D. and his late wife Shari F.
