Billie Jo Leclerc died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in Lawton at the age of 85 after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.  She was born December 30, 1932 in Waterloo, Iowa to Arthur Elliott Betts, Jr. and Elinor Sylvia Gallup. She grew up and graduated from high school in Rochester, Minnesota. She then worked as a lab technician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Vacationing in Europe, she met Francis Albert Leclerc, a captain in the French Army.  They were married on February 2, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois.  Francis served as a liaison officer with the French Army and his career brought the family to Lawton, Oklahoma.  While working for the FAA at Cameron University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Billie then worked as a church secretary for Lawton First Assembly until her retirement.

Billie was a strong woman of faith in Jesus our Lord. Her life and actions mirrored her favorite Bible verse; Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." She enjoyed nurturing others who were less fortunate than her; guiding them, praying for them, and loving them. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, genealogy, and knitting.

She is survived by her four children and their companions, Freddy and Denise, Betsy and James, Tony and Natalie and Patrick and Nancy; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Marie, Jason, Aaron, Jereme, Sophia, Phillip, Valerie and Monica; and three great grandchildren, Liam, Leliana, and Meilia.

Billie is preceded in death by her former husband Francis A. Leclerc, her son Alexandre Leclerc, her brother Leigh Betts Sr., and sisters Bobbie Jimenez and Linda Sinn.
