Beverly Kay Edwards, 83, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 in Oklahoma City surrounded by family. She was born August 14, 1938 in Walters, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in May of 1956 and married the love of her life, Lanny, on August 4 of the same year. They were married for 60 years before he went to race in Heaven. A pioneer for so many who have taken up a profession in motorsports, Beverly
stood at the side of her late husband, Lanny, as they built Lawton Speedway, Devil's Bowl Speedway and so many other dirt ovals across Texas and Oklahoma. She was there for the co-founding of the Chili Bowl Nationals and helped build a legacy that will forever be known and emulated.
More than her accomplishments as a track owner and promoter, her life's greatest accomplishments are seen through the care and love of her family. That is, and will always be her greatest testament.
She is survived by her three children, Monty Edwards (Kelly) and Marcy Davis of Lawton, OK and Lanny Ross Edwards (Pamela) of Mesquite, TX; her 6 grandchildren, Brandon Edwards (Patty), Ashlie Nader (Chris), Kay Bloomquist (Shawn), Kyle Ezell (Rachel), Martin Edwards (Amanda), and Allyson Doughty (Taylor). She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Jordyn Edwards, Clayton Edwards, Mason Nader, Kailey Nader, Parker Ezell, Hadley Ezell, Kasey Bloomquist, Kinser Bloomquist, Eston Edwards, and Baby Doughty in September. She is also survived by special friends Norman and Sally Martin along with many other relatives and friends.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband Lanny and her parents, Tom and Bonnie Johnson.
