Graveside service for Betty Sue Tilghman will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Betty Sue Tilghman, 82, went to be with her Savior on January 22, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on August 26, 1943, in Ringling, Oklahoma, to Frank and Eunice (Floyd) Stockton. Betty graduated from Cache Public Schools and soon met the love of her life at church, Fletcher Tilghman, Sr. The two were married on April 15, 1967, in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Betty Tilghman once said that being a wife and mother was her first love. She deeply loved and cared for her children, taking pride in nurturing and encouraging them throughout their lives. She also cherished dancing and gardening with her husband and was an avid seamstress.
Betty found great joy in sharing her cooking with others and was affectionately known as the "Dessert Queen" at family and church events.
A lifelong learner who deeply cared for others, Betty worked for many years with the Lawton Public Library, where she eventually managed its branch library.
She offered support and companionship to military wives during their husbands' deployments, providing hope, encouragement, and counsel.
Betty was very active at Park Lane Church of Christ, serving faithfully and diligently throughout her life. We are confident she was welcomed by Jesus with the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Betty is survived by her husband; two children, Fletcher and Elizabeth Tilghman; her brother, E.J. Stockton; her beloved grandcat, Catstiel; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, JoAnn Carroll and LaNell Weaks; and her sister-in-law, Mary Stockton.
