Funeral for Betty Jane Higgerson, 89, Lawton will be at 1:30 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Williamson officiating. Mrs. Higgerson died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in Lawton. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born March 21, 1924 in Union Valley, Oklahoma to Melvin and Betty (Whitehead) Dorton. She married Patrick E. Rackley in 1943 in Randlett, Oklahoma. She later married Herman Higgerson on November 8, 1958 in Cache. He died in 1969. Mrs. Higgerson enjoyed keeping house, her cats, gardening, going to the Senior Citizens Center and family gatherings. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Kuntry Cousins Square Dance Club. Survivors include two sons and their wives, Anthoney Boyd and Peggy Rackley, Stephenville, Texas and Jerry Don and Joanne Rackley, Cache, a daughter, Eva Jean Mortimer and companion Chad Abernathy, of Iowa, two grandsons, Billy Don Rackley and wife Marilyn, Shawnee and Monroe Rackley, Odessa, Texas, two granddaughters, Heather Dawn Laidley and husband Del, Yukon and Chantel Rackley, Odessa, Texas. She is also survived by two great grandsons, Dillan Rackley, Shawnee and Brenden Laidley, Yukon, one great granddaughter, Natalie Laidley, Yukon, three step-grandsons, Rusty Farris and wife Cherri, Jasonville, Indiana and Ernie Farris and wife Dawn, Grand Junction, Colorado and Charles Byrd and wife Jodi, Germany, one step -granddaughter, Sheila Townsend and husband Joe, Odessa, Texas, thirteen step-great grandchildren, five step-great great grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy Briscoe, Walters, two sisters-in-law, Deloris Dorton, Duncan and Marylene Dorton, Burkburnett, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman Higgerson, three sisters-in-law, Ruby Bennight, Ellen Dorton and Mary Dorton, a brother-in-law, Alvin Briscoe, four brothers, Sonny, Jimmy, Charles and J. W. Dorton and a great-grandson, Chad Vanderburgh Rackley.
