Funeral for Betty J. Cherry, 76, Lawton will be at 1:30 PM Saturday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Al Potts, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Cherry died Wednesday in Lawton. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born June 29, 1934 east of Lawton to Glen and Opal (Miley) Wood. Mrs. Cherry graduated from Lawton High School in 1951. She married Elton O. Cherry on July 5, 1986 in Tulsa. He died December 10, 2010. She worked for Lawton Retail Merchants Association for over twenty years. She then worked for Cherry Industries until retirement. She was a breast cancer survivor for 18 ½ years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sheila Standridge, Lawton, three step sons and their spouses, Don and Deborah Cherry, Lawton, John and Jan Cherry, Charleston, Illinois and Pat Cherry, Grass Valley, California, a step daughter, Lyn Cherry, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, brother, Ronnie Wood and his wife Donna, Lawton, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a special friend, JoAnn Fields, Lawton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Larry K. Standridge and a sister, Shirley McWhorter.
