Funeral service for Betty Jean Cates, 79, Lawton will be at 1:30 pm Friday, February 28, 2014 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with her son Melvin E. Cates, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Cates died Monday, February 24, 2014, at her home in Lawton. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. She was born July 28, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan to Milford William and Inez M. (Perry) Johnson. She married Melvin E. Cates, Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a beautician. She is survived by a son Melvin E. Cates, Jr. and wife Linda of Austin, TX, a brother Charles Johnson and wife Charlene of Lawton, OK, granddaughter Dr. Jennifer Ono Moreno of Tampa Bay, FL, great granddaughter Holly Moreno of Tampa Bay, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister - Delores Powell and a brother Bobby Johnson.
