Age 86, Arlington, Texas - Services will be 1:00 PM Monday in the Northwest Church of Christ with Mikel Petersen, Minister, Perryton Church of Christ, Perryton, Texas, officiating. Mrs. Pettit died Thursday at the Southwinds Ranch in Arlington, Texas. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. She was born on January 3, 1923 in Strawn, Texas to George and Mary (Temperance) Rollins. She married SFC (Retired) C.W. Pettit, Jr. on November 10, 1951 in Eastland, Texas. He passed away on April 19, 1997. She was a devout Christian, who loved studying God's word. She taught teenage girls' Bible class for years and sewed for her family and friends. She was known for her hospitality, quick wit, and dedicated service to those in need. She was a member of Northwest Church of Christ since 1951 before moving to Texas. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Petersen and Ann Verner and her husband, Mike, all of Grand Prairie, Texas; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Sue Doss of Fort Worth, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband and four siblings preceded her in death.
