Graveside service for Barbara J. Barbre will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 25, 2023 at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma with Rev. Rodney Campbell of Fletcher, Oklahoma officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Barbara J. Barbre, 83, of Elgin, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was born February 21, 1940, in Pennsville, New Jersey, to the late Albert M. and Gertrude A. (Bewak) Bennett. Barbara spent her formative years in Pennsville and proudly graduated from the local high school.

On June 3, 1957, she married 1SG (Retired) Ronald G. Barbre in Maryland, and together they shared a remarkable 62-year journey until Ronald's passing on November 7, 2019. Barbara's unwavering dedication to their marriage was a testament to her enduring love and commitment.

Barbara possessed a passion for gardening and her affection for animals, particularly her beloved pets. She found solace and joy in spending time outdoors, embracing the beauty of nature that surrounded her. Until her health no longer permitted, Barbara attended her local church, finding spiritual fulfillment in her faith.

A true matriarch and a pillar of strength, Barbara exemplified the essence of a devoted military wife and mother. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she was known for her exceptional culinary talents, both in cooking and baking. Barbara's kitchen was a source of comfort and warmth, where cherished memories were created over shared meals.

Above all, Barbara's heart was expansive, filled with boundless love for her family and a genuine care for all she encountered. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and enduring memories in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing her path. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Barbara is survived by her son, Michael Barbre and wife Andrea of Wylie, Texas, three grandchildren, Joshua Barbre of Wylie, Texas, Richard Vickery, IV and wife Christine of Duncan, Oklahoma and Megan Vickery of Lawton, Oklahoma, two great grandchildren, Brandon Vickery and George Matlock both of Lawton, Oklahoma.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Denise Vickery, brother, Ronald Bennett, and sister, Donna Zane.
