Funeral for Barbara Stapleton, 75, Lawton will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Cameron Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Jones, pastor and Rev. Mike Teel, associate pastor officiating. Mrs. Stapleton died Tuesday in Lawton. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born October 12, 1935 in Lawton to Harold and Gladys J. (Power) Barclay. Mrs. Stapleton graduated from Lawton High School in 1954. That was the last graduating class from the old high school before they went to the new building. She married Melvin Stapleton on September 25, 1954 in Lawton. They had been married for fifty six years. She worked for the Lawton Constitution and Lawton High School. She later became a Mary Kay consultant, a job which she did for over thirty years. During that time she earned her pink Cadillac. She was heavily involved in ministry at Cameron Baptist Church. At one time, she was also appointed to and served on the Mayor's Council for Women. Survivors include her husband, of the home, son and daughter-in-law; Kent and Wendy Stapleton, Boca Raton, Florida, a daughter; Brenda Stapleton, Oklahoma City, two grandsons; Cody Stapleton, Bradenton, Florida and Kelly Stapleton, Boca Raton, Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Robert Barclay and William Barclay. Memorial contributions may be made to Cameron Baptist Church Building Fund, 2621 S.W.
