In Loving Memory of Barbara Bullock

The world shines a little less brightly with the passing of Barbara Bullock on November 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. Barbara was a woman whose life was a tapestry of grace, kindness, and unmistakable style. Born and raised in Georgia, Barbara carried her southern roots proudly and unapologetically. She embodied warmth and hospitality, the kind that made everyone feel seen, special, and loved.

Barbara lived a life rich with love and purpose. As a proud Army wife, she traveled the world alongside her beloved husband, Colonel (Retired) Tom Bullock, serving faithfully in support of her Soldier and the military families she held dear. Her devotion to Tom was unwavering, and she carried immense pride in his service and leadership. The highlight of her life was being mom to two wonderful children, Vic and Pixie.

In her early years at Fort Hood, Barbara managed catering, but her true gift blossomed in her ability to create beauty wherever she went. Whether it was decorating for a family gathering or planning an event for friends, Barbara had a gift for transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary. She had an eye for elegance - leather, fur, diamonds, and all things lovely - yet her true sparkle came from her heart. Her style was unmatched, but so was her sincerity, generosity, and laughter.

Barbara's reach extended far beyond her home and family. She was a founding member of the group that raised funds to create the Military Welcome Center at the Lawton Airport, a project that continues to greet travelers with warmth and pride. She also began the Retired Military Spouses Monthly Luncheon, where she poured her heart into planning, decorating, and designing menus that delighted every guest. Barbara's commitment to community was steadfast; she was a strong supporter of Family and MWR, where she volunteered countless hours helping Brenda decorate for events at the Patriot Club. She was a former member of the Officer Wives Club, later the Patriot Spouses Club, and MOAA, always seeking ways to uplift and encourage those around her. Barbara was very active in the First Baptist Church until she relocated to Duncan and joined church closer to her new home. She supported the Easter Pageant at the Holy City for 14 years. She also volunteered at Fort Sill Reynolds Army Community Hospital. She was an active supporter of the Military Retiree Council in her earlier years after retirement, she participated in the Lawton Dance Club, Heritage Foundation, LPO Board, the Opera Board, the Lawton Community Theatre Board and the Cancer Society Board. She was a former member of the Cameron President's Partners.

With Barbara, we didn't talk about age - we talked about life. She often asked, "How are you using your days to make an impact?" Whatever talent possessed, she believed, should be used to bless others - and she lived that belief beautifully every single day.

Barbara was a woman of deep faith. She loved her God, her family, her country, and her friends with steadfast devotion. Through the heartbreak of laying to rest her parents, her beloved Tom, her precious daughter Pixie, and her dear friend Sharon, Barbara found the strength to honor them through the way she lived - with resilience, grace, and joy. She laughed, she loved, she endured, and she continued to bring beauty into the lives of others. She enjoyed the last years of life by being showered with love and care from her sweet companion, Steve.

She is survived by her love, Steve Scheidemantel, of the home; a son and daughter in law, Vic and Kim Quinton, Austin, Texas; son in law, CW5 (Retired) Chuck Lent, Enterprise, Alabama; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Christopher Lent, Ashley Fontenot and husband Chris, and Chad Tibbetts and wife Paige, six great grandchildren Hayden, Weston, and Cody Fontenot and Cohen, Case and Rosie Tibbetts, a multitude of friends, those she considered family, Burl and Brenda Ragland and children, Isabel Bonner, Tony and Michele Puckett, Diane Denham, Ron Means, whose lives were forever brightened by her presence.

Barbara's faith sustained her always. She often spoke of her excitement to meet Jesus and be welcomed into her eternal home. Though she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing she has been joyfully received into the arms of her Savior and reunited with those she loved.

If Barbara could leave us with one last message, it would be this: Live life fully. Wear your lipstick. Enjoy the day. Accept Jesus. Count your blessings. And in her unmistakable way, she'd add with a smile - "Do you understand?"

Proverbs 31:25-30

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her BLESSED; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women have done excellently, but you (Barbara Jean) surpass them all.
