Graveside service for Athalie "Tootsie" Carter, 88, Indiahoma, will be at 10:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2015 in the Mountain Park Cemetery, Mountain Park, OK with Les Banks, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Indiahoma officiating. Mrs. Carter passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 in a Snyder nursing home. Burial will be in the Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder. She was born July 25, 1926 in Mountain Park, Oklahoma to Clyde Marion and Aline (Burris) Phillips. Athalie was very talented in music, and at the age of 6 she played the trumpet in the Christmas program with the high school band at Mountain Park High School. Her father taught her to play at age 4. She was very active in church and played the piano and taught Sunday school at Calvary Baptist Church in Hobbs, NM. She is survived by her two sons, Randy and Deborah Hargrove and Lynn and Paula Hargrove, both of Hobbs, NM, two sisters, Linda Keeble and husband Gene of Snyder, OK, DeLois Carter of Indiahoma, OK, four grandchildren, Kellie Mayfield and husband Michael of Portland, TX, Michael Hargrove of Hobbs, NM, Keri Garrett and husband Brian of Hobbs, NM, Jody Hargrove and wife Jessica of Wolforth, TX and two great grandsons, Jameson Mayfield of Portland, TX and Jace Hargrove of Wolforth, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clyde Wayne and Monte Eldon Phillips.
