Funeral service for Arlen L. Swanson, 89, Bradenton, Florida, will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Letitia Baptist Church, east of Lawton. Mr. Swanson died on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Bradenton, Florida Burial will be in the Letitia Cemetery, east of Lawton under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Arlen was born on February 23, 1922 east of Lawton to Kyle and Minnie Ray Swanson. Arlen graduated from Empire High School in 1939 and a few days later married his high school sweet heart Dollie D. Kirk. They spent a brief time in Northern California before settling in Lawton and resided 5 miles east of Lawton for 61 years. In 1967 Arlen was officially registered as a professional engineer with the State of Oklahoma. Arlen retired from Public Service Co. in 1986 after 39 years of service. After 58 years of marriage Dollie preceded him in death on July 13, 1997. He is survived by his two sons, Jim Swanson of Bradenton, FL and Ken Swanson of Corinth, TX. Arlen also has 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. His parents preceded him in death.
