Anna Maria Herbert passed away on August 4, 2025 at her home in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her funeral will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with an interment to take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens-Veterans Field of Honor immediately after.
Anna Maria was born on October 19, 1934 to Joseph Xaver Wӧrner and Maria Theresia Wӧrner-Huber in Garmish-Partenkirchin, Germany. She had one brother, Lӧtah Wӧrner that was 14 years older than she. Growing up in Germany during the war was difficult, but Anna Maria made the best of it by attending school, working on the family farm, and ultimately attending Hotel Hospitality School.
She met her future husband, Walter Charles Herbert, and they married on January 31, 1958. As charter members of Grace Methodist Church, they built a home nearby and together they raised three beautiful children while Walter served in the U.S. Army. Although his service had them tour in many different places, they ultimately settled in Lawton, OK where Walter retired. Anna Maria worked for AAfes at the military clothing sales for over 20 years and retired from there. She and Walter would go on to travel and see family in other states. She had a desire to serve so she went to volunteer for Southwestern Medical Center where she volunteered for 21 years. There she could be found assisting at the reception desk, delivering newspapers to patients, running the hospital gift shop, or delivering baby hats and booties to newborns delivered at the hospital.
In her free time, Anna Maria enjoyed crafts of all kinds, especially sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed shopping with her good friends and grandchildren. She valued her time with her pets and had a big heart for animals. She loved to fish and spend time outdoors working on her flowers and plants. She also loved cookouts and spending time by the pool. She enjoyed countless activities and social events and was a member of both the Rebecca Lodge and the RSVP group as well as many social groups at the assisted living facilities where she lived.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, husband, and two sons-in-law Dennis Ray (Kenosha, WI) and Thomas E Clark (Lawton, OK).
She leaves behind her daughters, Barbara A. Ray (Pleasant Prairie, WI), Mary J. Leonard (Lawton, OK), and Belinda M. Clark (Lawton, OK). Also, her beloved grandchildren: Christina N. Richmond (Lawton, OK), Thomas E. Clark II and wife Andrea Clark (Cache, OK), Sean O'Toole and fiancé Leah Hayleigh Orr (Kenosha, WI), Teresa M. Clark (Lawton, OK), Ryan O'Toole (Pleasant Prairie, WI) and Tyler O'Toole and partner Pey Rodriguez (Clayton, NJ). She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Constance Navarez-Holcomb and husband Angel Nevarez (Fort Sill, OK), Madeline Clark (Cache, OK), Thomas E Clark III (Cache, OK), and Logan O'Toole (Kenosha, WI). Her great-great-grandchildren Silas and Maverick Steinmeyer (Fort Sill, OK) and Delphine Nevarez-Holcomb (Fort Sill, OK). She also leaves behind many more beloved family and countless friends.
