Age 84, Lawton - Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Holy Family Catholic Church Chapel with Rev. Mr. Herman Lawrence, Deacon, officiating. Mr. Bitz died Monday in Lawton. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. He was born September 8, 1923 near Napoleon, North Dakota to Joseph and Margaret (Voller) Bitz. He grew up in the Napoleon area and later moved to California. He returned to Bismarck, North Dakota, and had been a Lawton resident since June 2007. He was married to Marlys J. Westerman on May 5, 1984 in Bismarck, North Dakota. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2008. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He is survived by two brothers, Al Bitz, Mandan, North Dakota, and Johnny Bitz, Bismarck, North Dakota; two sisters, Isabell Schmidt, Wishek, North Dakota, and Alvina Kluth, Nevada; several nieces and nephews including Terry Geffre and husband Raymond, Lawton, and Sherri Garr and husband Neil, Mandan, North Dakota; several great nieces and nephews including Jennifer Silkey and her children Aaron, Madison and Peighten; Wade Geffre; and Kira Ratliff and her children Adam Geffre and Kevin Johnson. Three brothers, Joe, Joseph and Leo, and three sisters, Rose, Victoria and Margie, preceded him in death.
