Obituary

Memorial service for 1SG (Retired) John G. Seibert will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 in Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Shane C. Seibert and Sean P. Seibert, his sons, officiating.

1SG (Retired) John G. Seibert, affectionately known as Papa to everyone, died Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 76.  He was born July 13, 1946 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Gilbert M. and Arlene (McKinstry) Seibert.

John grew up in Winona, Minnesota, water skiing on the Mississippi river.  He and his two older brothers and younger sister ran wild and wreaked havoc in Winona's busy streets, causing many headaches for their parents.   He and Ruthmary most certainly knew how to pick on their sweet, innocent baby sister, Susan.

John joined the U.S. Army in 1965 and met the love of his life on a blind date.  He and Ramona Ann Espinoza were married on November 15, 1968 in Lawton, Oklahoma.  They were married for 34 years before her passing in November of 2002.

John retired from the U.S. Army in 1985 and he was the recipient of numerous awards.  Following his retirement from the Army he continued his working career with Civil Service at Fort Sill and later with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.  Later in life he moved in with his daughter and two granddaughters.

John is survived by his children, Lisa Young and her boyfriend, Mikle Carroll, Sean Seibert and wife Natalie and Shane Seibert and wife Amber; five grandchildren, Shelby Young, Jade Young and her boyfriend Matthew Frickie, Piper Young, Sloane Seibert and Greer Seibert; a great grandson, Abrum Watts as well as soon to be born Baby Frickie; his sister, Susan Miller and husband Rick; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Linda Seibert, Leona Harding, Alfred and Karen Espinoza, Thomas and Laurie Espinoza, Tony Espinoza and Joey Espinoza; as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sisters, Charlotte Kluzik and Ruthmary Seibert, brothers, Jim and Jerrie Seibert, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Florence Espinoza, and his son-in-law, Keith Young.

John will be missed by his family and friends and they will smile as they remember his favorite saying, "You're not old enough for the big finger, so you get the small one".

The family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
