After her retirement, she became a full-time volunteer who worked with Gilmer to serve his district.
However, her priority was always her family. Come rain or shine, she attended all the sporting and musical activities of her two children and four grandchildren. She was an amazing wife, daughter, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

Capps, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynda Ottaway and Larry of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Gilmer John Capps and Darcy of Elgin; four grandchildren, Lauren Kellee Ottaway, a senior at Washington & Lee University, Lexington, Virginia, Girard Colton Capps, recent graduate of MacArthur High School, Lawton, Oklahoma, Brielle Cherie Capps, a junior at Lawton MacArthur High School, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Holden Rhett Capps, a seventh grader at Central Middle School, Lawton, Oklahoma.
