Age 96, Lawton - Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday in the Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Cox, Pastor, and Rev. Eddie Coast, Geronimo, officiating.
Mr. Allen died Friday in a local hospital.
Burial will be in the Rogers Cemetery, southwest of Snyder, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
He was born on April 26, 1911 in Steven, Texas to Charles Edward and Pearl Emma (Sluder) Allen. He married Frances Elizabeth Hamilton in Kaufman, Texas on December 26, 1941. She died on October 26, 2001. He worked for Halliburton Oil Company in the oil field and retired after 30 years. He also worked for Gray's Truck Line for a few years. He farmed a small farm until 1997 and moved to Lawton, where he lived the past ten years.
During Mr. Allen's life, he served as a lay church planter, church leader, Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir. He was an active member of the Olivet Baptist Church and was still teaching the Senior Adult Sunday School class until his death. The Comanche/Cotton Baptist Association recognized him as the oldest Sunday School teacher in the association.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Floyd D. Allen, Jr. and Janna D. of Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Graham of Pleasanton, California; four grandchildren, Barbara Ann Rieger and Gary Dean Young-Allen, both of Tulsa, Aaron Graham of Greenville, South Carolina, and Monica Graham of Pleasanton, California; a great granddaughter, Kristen Sides of Tulsa; eight step great grandchildren, Taylor Smith of Tulsa, Cameron Smith of Tahlequah, Glen and Brynn Smith, both of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Amber, Courtney and Brittany Rieger, all of Tulsa, and Lonna Rieger of Iowa; five step great great grandchildren, Elijah Rieger, Miguel Angel Lomelli and Tyler Smith, all of Tulsa, Brooklyn Rieger of Iowa, and Madden Taylor Smith of Tahlequah.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Olivet Baptist Church, 320 SW 67th Street, Lawton, Oklahoma 73505.
