Biography
Age 72, Lawton - Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Howard, Pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Smith died Wednesday at her home.
Interment will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.
She was born May 28, 1937 in Wuerzburg, Germany to Valentin and Elisabeth (Jacob) Ziegler. She grew up in Kitzingen where she graduated high school. She worked at a department store as a sales clerk. She married Johnnie C. Smith on May 18, 1957 in Germany. She came to the United States in September 1961. She worked for CANTU Services at Fort Sill as a payroll clerk for 18 years until her retirement. She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Houston Smith of Alexandria, Virginia and Johnnie Smith and his wife Darla of Oakhurst, California; two daughters, Christine Smith of Corona del Mar, California and Glenda Kaapuwai of Lawton; seven grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Matthew Smith, Jacob Smith, Brittni Smith, Jessica Bougie, William Kaapuwai and Johnnie Kaapuwai and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hans Ziegler
