Biography
Age 79, Lawton - Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joseph R. Ross, Pastor, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, officiating.
Sergeant Rusnow died Wednesday at his home.
Burial with full military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
He was born on April 1, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Eli E. and Burna E. (Harvey) Rusnow. He joined the Army and served his country well, earning two Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award, Korean Service Medal with three Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with four Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm. He married Carolyn Jean Dearth in Cleveland, Ohio on February 12, 1955. She died in Lawton on June 27, 2008. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a volunteer at Reynolds Army Community Hospital.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Christine K. Rusnow of Dallas, Texas and Sharon and Donald Lookabaugh of Greenwood, Michigan; six grandchildren, Marissa, Donald, Daniel, Malinda, Autumn and Miranda; and a great granddaughter, Leah.
He was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Elaine B. Rusnow.
