Funeral service for former Walters resident Theodora Sarah Ketels Schneeberger, 94, will be 11:00 am Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Hulen United Methodist Church, southeast of Lawton, with Rev. Dan Eppler and Rev. Michael Wood, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be prior to the service in the Letitia Cemetery, east of Lawton at 10:00 am under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schneeberger died Friday, August 30, 2013 in an Oklahoma City hospital.
Theodora was born November 25, 1918 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Theodore Henry Ketels and Susan Alberta Jones Ketels. She grew up in the Hulen community and resided there for 84 years. She attended Hulen elementary school, Lawton High School, and Cameron College where she was valedictorian of her class. Theodora was married to Clifford Fred Schneeberger for 63 years, from June 15, 1937 until he preceded her in death in 2001. They had three children Kenneth Schneeberger and wife Sharon of Columbia, Missouri, Charles Schneeberger and wife Jane of Arlington, Texas and Sarita Schneeberger Naegeli of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Theodora was an active member of Hulen United Methodist Church where she served as pianist and organist for 70 years. She taught piano to many students in the Hulen, Walters and Central High communities, helped run the family farm, and managed rental properties in Lawton. She was and active 4-H club leader, had a wide circle of friends and especially enjoyed her pinochle group. Theodora and her husband traveled extensively visiting all 50 states and several foreign countries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ruth (Ketels) McCoy, sisters-in-law Helen (Schneeberger) Davis and Juanelle (Schneeberger) Iwan. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, Peter, Will, Claire, Mary, Melissa, Sara, and Kevin, eight great grandchildren, sister-in-law Joan (Schneeberger) Fields and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to one of her favorite charities, Samaritans Purse, Hulen United Methodist Church or your local hospice.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 1 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
